3 Simple Strategies To Drinking More Water

It’s World Water Day! Yipeeeee! Wait… Do you know what World Water Day is? Fun Fact For Ya…World Water Day is an annual event that focuses attention on the importance of universal access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene facilities in developing countries.

I want to help you drink more water and what perfect day to do so!

I’m sure you are aware of the importance of drinking water. Getting your daily requirement of water helps your organs function, keeps your skin clear and hydrated and allows physical action in your body to flow smoothly.

Many people find it challenging to drink enough water throughout the day, especially in the summer when we tend to be more active and spend more time in the sun. Not drinking enough water may lead to poor digestion, sluggish thinking, skin breakouts, headaches, bad breath and general fatigue.

A busy mom has absolutely NO time for that!

With all this being said,  here are your 3 simple strategies…

  1. Set it up on your phone calendar/download an app- 

In today’s time our cell phones are glued to our hands. Why not put the expensive thing to work for you and be your accountability partner? I love to schedule or make to do lists on my phone and set a reminder. It’s simple and quick. Put “Drink Water Now” on your phone’s calendar and set a reminder for it. You want to set the reminder to pop up at least every hour or two so you can be sure to drink it often. (If you want to drink more often, do that too) When the reminder goes off, do it! Don’t hit snooze or say you will do it later. It’s great to get at least 8 glasses in a day so, drink a glass for the next 8 hrs. This can also work with an app.

  1. Get a cute water bottle and keep it accessible throughout the day- 

Listen, being a woman and having cute things is EVERYTHING! It just makes you feel good when you have cute things, especially a water bottle. Have you ever bought something so cute that it made you want to use it? EXACTLY! Buy a cute water bottle and love it so much that it makes you want to drink water out of it all day. Whether you’re on the go or sitting at a desk, having water close by will remind you to take a sip when you are thirsty.

NOTE: The first sip of water will usually let you know how much you need. If you have most of your water before early evening, the possibility of interrupted sleep will not be an issue because you will not crave a big glass before bed.

  1. Spruce it up-

If you liked things spruced up, Be My Guest! The key is that you should like the taste of the water you are drinking and the water should agree with your body. Try different options to see what you like best. Spruce up your water by adding a few mint leaves, a wedge of lemon, a sprig of parsley, a few slices of cucumber, a twist of lime or a squeeze of orange to your water is a great way to mix up your routine---and might make it more tempting to sip often.

Note: By drinking tea and juice and eating raw fruits and vegetables high in water content, you will be contributing to the hydration process. I would like to see you drink more water though.
