Now that we are a few months into the New Year, it's always a good idea to review your goals and inspiration...with that in mind...we're re-running a piece from the Holidays.
Give yourself the gift of Great Health all year long!!
With all the talk of sales, new gadgets, brand names, and other awesome gift during the holiday season, it’s easy to forget that the best gifts don’t always come in a box, and they don’t even have to come from other people!
Regardless of what you want out of life in the upcoming new year, having a solid foundation of physical and emotional wellness will help you get there. So why not give yourself the gift of health this holiday season?
Here are 3 ways to put yourself at the top of your own giving list and thrive this holiday season:
Love a good shopping spree? There are many fun, educational, and useful products that could help you enjoy healthy activities. Books, workout DVDs, running shoes, organic food, and juicers are all examples of how you could splurge in a way that supports your health and wellness. So get yourself a health-promoting present guilt-free!
In order to maintain good health in the long-term, it’s important to plan for the future and be inspired to transform from the inside out. Buying a membership at a fitness center or signing up for a course that will engage and inspire you can not only help you gain confidence and knowledge; it will motivate you to stick with your decision because you’ve already paid!
Even if your finances are limited, there are still many ways to invest in your health for free. Here is a simple 3-step exercise to establish your health goals and stay committed to achieving results:
- Write down 3 concrete goals for your health. Be specific: rather than saying that you plan to get more exercise or cook more, add a numerical value to each goal by committing to running a half-marathon or cooking at least 4 meals a week at home.
- Write down how you’ll reach them. Think practically about what you can begin doing right away to get on track. For the examples above, it might be to start jogging for 20 minutes a day, 4 days a week, or bookmarking recipe blogs and scheduling the days you’ll shop for ingredients and cook at home.
- Re-write your three goals again and again on several post-it notes and stick them in visible places in your home and office. This will serve as a constant reminder not to lose sight of your objective.
